My passion for horses developed at an early age and continues today. I have always been intrigued by how horses think and why they're willing to work with us. This fuels my interest in learning as much as I can to better communicate with them so our horse/human interactions remain as safe and productive as possible. This is what I focus on most when helping my clients.
As a teen I participated in 4-H and the United States Pony Club. During this time I competed in eventing and dressage. From there I worked as a working student which helped me to develop my foundations as an instructor. I started my first riding program traveling to multiple farms in my early 20s.
Over the next decade I settled my program to my own property, Spring Willow Horse Farm, which is where my husband and I raised our family and I ran my riding and horsemanship programs, coached clients, bred and showed Andalusian's at classical breed shows, and continued my own horsemanship education and developed my specialized teaching methods.
With the help of several additional instructors and a stable of trusted school horses, I ran a successful horsemanship program catering to an average of eighty to one hundred clients a week. My programs included, open and student shows, summer camps, as well as hosting many clinicians. I coached many students of all ages and backgrounds at local and regional shows, drill teams and held seminars, and versatility challenges during that time.
Through out the decades as an equine professional in the New England area I have been a member of several equine clubs, associations, and societies where I served as a board member, general officer, and/or show manager.
Among the shows I have managed are the Tri State Horseman Association dressage and 2 phases, Charles River Dressage Association dressage shows, and Southern New England Carriage Driving Association's ADS driving trials.
After close to 30 years of running my program, and now that my children have all grown up, my husband and I have relocated to a new facility my family and I lovingly call "The Burrow". I brought along with me a smaller herd consisting of my carriage driving mare, whom I still enjoy competing, my three mini horses, who myself and my family enjoy driving, one mini donkey, and my retired Andalusian mare.
As I move into this new chapter of my life, I am now offering my life long experiences and my unique perspective with horses and people to help clients with their goals.
